I LOVE CACTUS! This print began as a photo of a Saguaro Cactus. It’s virtually unrecognizable in the final print but that’s some of the fun of working with photos, you can take them to a very abstract place in the design, especially when the subject is repeated. It’s always a surprise to see what you end up with. I recreated it with brush strokes and filter effects in Photoshop. Using different compositing settings in the layers panel is a favorite trick to enhance a photo. I used a 3rd party effect called Flaming Pear in Photoshop to add a swirly fractal to the art. The art was repeated on a curve at 100% scale at 150 dpi, 44″x80″, pasted inside a half circle pattern and printed directly on silk chiffon, a 4″ ruffle with contrasting print was printed at the same time.
